I think that regardless of how successful any one of us gets, some part of us would always wish we were a little bit musically gifted. The ability to hold a difficult note or play an instrument at a high level is not only impressive but also incredibly eye catching. Think of all the street musicians you walk past on vacation or on the commute to work. With just a single instrument and their talent, they are able to block a walkway and gather a crowd, filling ears with their wonderful skill and clear and crisp notes. However, despite this ability and the rarity of musical talent that makes it, there is still a large amount of would be musicians that are just waiting to be discovered.
Discovering talent is no easy task, and finding a new musician to follow is increasingly hard to do, but the City of Sumner, Washington may have a way to help with this dilemma. They are hosting a sort of concert for the Cultural Arts Commissions events in 2025, including the popular July Music off Main Concert Series. This would be a great way for any would-be artist to get their name out there and for some bands and singers to give themselves some exposure. Applications for these events are now being accepted, and bands and musicians are both welcome.
The ability to translate notes and instruments into songs is a gift.
